Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience, oncology experience required
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
  • Phlebotomy Certificate (if required by State)
  • Ability to serve and protect the Natera clinic community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and JCAHO standards

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient communications, including draw and timing requirements
  • Perform administrative duties, such as accessing patient information and reports in Electronic Medical Record (EMR), scheduling patients, aligning available blood draw times to clinic requirements, etc
  • Track and enter data for each draw completed, including billing information when applicable
  • Verify test requisitions by comparing information with EMR information, bringing discrepancies to the attention of unit personnel and/or resolving missing information fields
  • Verify patient by reading and securing patient identification
  • Obtain blood specimens by performing venipunctures
  • Maintain specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following department procedures; observe isolation procedures
  • Track collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection; maintain daily tallies of collections performed
  • Maintain quality results by following department procedures and testing schedule; recording results in the quality-control log, identifies and reports needed changes to process
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following CAP CLIA standards and procedures, following with compliance and/or legal regulations
  • Work with assigned field team and internal channels to maintain & support existing customers
  • Drive completion and efficiency rates set by the business unit
  • Articulate product and program specifics to the Natera patient community and interested parties
  • Identify, nurture and grow patient relationships to influence, schedule, and renew ongoing Natera testing
  • Make required outbound calls as set by the business needs
  • Resolve unusual test orders by contacting the physician, pathologist, nursing station, or reference laboratory; refer unresolved orders back to the originator for further clarification; notify clinic contact/supervisor of unresolved orders
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and/or participating in professional organizations
  • Enhance phlebotomy department reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to patient experience
  • Manage logistical requirements/printing of patient reports for associated clinic
  • Manage general billing questions/triaging for resolution with patients
  • Schedule pick-ups from courier services - FedEx or Medspeed
