Physician Coder

Summary

The job is a remote Physician Coder III position requiring at least 3 years of coding experience, preferably in multi-specialty coding, E&M Coding/Auditing, and behavioral health coding. The candidate should have a high school diploma or GED with an associates degree preferred. They must be certified (CPC, CCS, etc.) and have proficient knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and/or ICD-9/10 coding, and Medicare and Medicaid billing policies for professional services.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of coding experience required
• High-school diploma/GED required. Associates Degree preferred
• Successful completion of at least one AHIMA or AAPC certified program with the achievement of the correlating professional credential (CCS, CPC, etc.). Active and in good standing
• A CPC or CCS-P certification is required for this position. The CPC-A is not accepted
• Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and/or ICD-9/10 coding, and Medicare and Medicaid billing policies for professional services required
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows, and healthcare information and billing systems

Responsibilities

• Review and accurately code all professional services including evaluation and management, therapy, diagnostics, and procedures in compliance with applicable Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer guidelines to ensure accurate reimbursement
• Adhere to MedKoder internal coding policies and expectations set forth by department management

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in multi-specialty coding, E&M Coding/Auditing, with significant experience in Behavioral Health coding preferred
• Minimum 3 years of behavioral health physician coding experience and/or auditing experience preferred
• Experience working remotely is preferred but not required
