Summary

Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Plant Layout Designer to design complex technical plants using various software. The role involves developing 2D and 3D models, collaborating with project leadership, identifying potential problems, and ensuring deliveries for manufacturability standards. Qualifications include an associate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, 5+ years of experience designing process plants, proficiency in AVEVA, PDMS, or equivalent, and knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations such as ANSI, API, ASME 1 and B31.3.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting and Design, or other related design discipline
  • 5+ years of experience designing process plants, such as refineries, chemical, petrochemical facilities and/or clean tech industries. High temperature applications preferred
  • Understands codes, standards, and regulations such as ANSI, API, ASME 1 and B31.3 pertaining to Power equipment and facility design
  • Production oriented and proficient using AVEVA, PDMS, or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Develop 2D drawings and 3D model of equipment and piping systems for Kairos Power engineering projects
  • Generate detailed general arrangement drawings of the plant and piping isometrics using computer-aided design software
  • Collaborate with project leadership, management, and engineers to ensure customer satisfaction and on-time delivery of products
  • Collaborate with civil, structural, process, I&C, and piping engineering resources in the preparation of procurement, fabrication, construction packages
  • Support preparation of reports such as line lists, valve schedules, and other extracts from 3D modeling software
  • Identify potential problems and develop cost-effective solutions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Has working knowledge of process, maintenance, and construction methods
  • Proven ability to create and maintain cross-functional working relationships and communicating design concepts and information with technicians, engineers, and manufacturing personnel
  • Experience designing with high temperature molten salt or other high temperature fluid systems desired but not required
  • Experience in the nuclear industry is desired but not required
