Summary

Join ShiftKey as a Staff Software Engineer and architect and implement scalable, cloud-based solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, modernize legacy systems, and lead platform projects. Responsibilities include developing CI/CD pipelines, implementing monitoring solutions, and establishing architectural guidelines. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience using PHP and Laravel, with 3+ years in platform engineering or similar roles, demonstrating a track record in delivering scalable distributed systems
  • Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and proficiency in at least one major cloud provider (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Application of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, including implementing monitoring, alerting, and automation practices to ensure system reliability
  • Proven mentorship and leadership capabilities, effectively guiding engineering teams and promoting cross-team collaboration
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills to drive successful project outcomes
  • A proactive approach to evaluating and integrating emerging technologies to continually enhance system performance and operational efficiency

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leadership to define and execute a platform architecture roadmap that aligns with strategic business objectives
  • Drive targeted initiatives to modernize legacy systems and support the transition from monolithic architectures to distributed microservices
  • Lead platform projects from ideation through deployment and ongoing optimization, coordinating cross-team efforts to deliver unified, scalable solutions that align with business objectives
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices for secure, reliable deployments
  • Implement and enhance advanced monitoring, alerting, and incident response solutions to ensure high system availability
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including SRE, security, and product, to align platform strategies with business goals
  • Establish and enforce architectural guidelines and operational best practices to ensure consistency and scalability
