Summary
Join Western Digital as a Senior Technical Writer and be responsible for creating, managing, and delivering customer-facing and internal content for data center storage products. Collaborate with project teams and subject matter experts to develop schedules, information, and finalize content. This primarily remote position requires occasional on-site work in Colorado Springs. You will contribute to improving internal tools and processes, supporting team members, and ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables. Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Communication, or a related field
- 4+ years of technical writing experience including creating and maintaining Installation Guides, User Guides, API References and other technical assets
- Experience with DITA XML
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with waterfall and Agile project development processes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Writing, editing, formatting, and illustrating technical end-user documentation
- Comfortable working both independently and in a collaborative team environment
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain information and related schedules to ensure timely and quality deliverables
- Run documentation reviews with program stakeholders and subject matter experts
- Regularly communicate directly with program teams and engineering staff
- Deliver program documentation and other assets
- Support team members on other programs as needed
- Create ways to improve efficiency and more effectively develop solutions with improved processes
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Oxygen (or similar XML authoring tool), content management systems (CMS), version control systems (SVN or Git), Adobe Creative Cloud (Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop)
- Experience creating project scopes
- Experience with waterfall and Agile project development processes
