Portuguese-English Translator

Summary

Join IREX, a global development and education organization, as a Portuguese-English translator! This part-time, remote position involves simultaneous interpretation between Portuguese and English for a media and civil society project. The work will be on an as-needed basis over the next 9-12 months. Prior translation experience in Portuguese is required, and knowledge of the media landscape in Portuguese-speaking countries is preferred. Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent communication skills and price competitiveness. IREX may engage selected candidates for up to three years based on performance and funding.

Requirements

• Demonstrate experience in providing translation and interpretation from Portuguese to English and from English to Portuguese
• Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including in remote settings
• Offer price competitiveness

Responsibilities

• Provide clear, accurate and technically correct simultaneous interpretation from English to Portuguese and from Portuguese to English
• On occasion, provide written language translation of handouts, data collection tools, and other written material

Preferred Qualifications

Possess knowledge of media and civil society landscape in Portuguese-speaking countries
