Requirements

  • Deep experience designing and maintaining scalable ETL pipelines and cloud-based data infrastructure (preferably AWS)
  • Proficiency with tools like DBT, Prefect, Airbyte, Snowflake, and Omni
  • Advanced SQL and data modeling skills, with a focus on analytics-ready data structures
  • A strategic thinker who can design scalable solutions and architect systems for future growth
  • Expertise in balancing trade-offs between speed, scalability, and cost-efficiency
  • Skilled at refactoring and optimizing data pipelines for performance and maintainability
  • Excellent communicator who can translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and align data initiatives with business priorities
  • Passionate about fostering a culture of data accessibility and self-service across teams
  • A self-starter who thrives on autonomy and accountability
  • Comfortable making high-impact decisions on infrastructure, vendor partnerships, and data strategy
  • Experience mentoring engineers and establishing best practices within a growing organization

Responsibilities

  • Build partnerships with key stakeholders: Orchard Analytics, Product, Engineering, Finance, Operations, and Provider Success teams
  • Begin managing data systems alongside Orchard Analytics
  • Familiarize yourself with Moxie’s data infrastructure, including tools like AWS RDS, Airbyte, Prefect, Snowflake, DBT, and Omni
  • Understand our domain-specific data models (scheduling, payments, memberships, etc.)
  • Contribute to the data roadmap while handling Q&A, troubleshooting, and urgent analytics requests
  • Take co-ownership of all data systems and serve as the technical lead for the data roadmap (working closely alongside Orchard Analytics)
  • Manage capacity and recommend additional hires or resources as needed
  • Become the domain expert for Moxie’s data models, collaborating with engineers to ensure best practices for schema design
  • Own vendor relationships (Omni, DBT, Snowflake) and handle contract negotiations, service levels, and infrastructure decisions
  • Collaborate with AI Engineers and Product Managers to build AI-powered tools and agents
  • Develop scalable solutions for automating data requests, FAQs, and enhancing our customer-facing systems
  • Begin planning and execution of long-term machine learning and data science projects
