Principal Engineer, ASIC Validation

Join Western Digital's HDD ASIC Validation Team as a dynamic individual. You will perform electrical testing and characterization of high-speed IP integrated with digital ASIC logic, including interfaces like SAS, SATA, DDR, and NAND. Responsibilities involve implementing tests using various tools, developing test infrastructure and automation, debugging issues, and generating reports. The ideal candidate possesses a Master's or Bachelor's degree in EE/CS with relevant experience in ASIC validation and skills in analog/digital circuitry, embedded C programming, and using testing equipment. Requirements

• Masters EE/CS and 5+ years of experience in ASIC validation
• Or a BS EE/CS + 8 years of experience in ASIC validation
• Experience with analog and digital circuitry and electrical characterization
• Professional Programming experience in Embedded C, Python, or similar languages
• Experienced with host bus analyzers, traffic generators, jammers, oscilloscopes, and/or BERTs

Responsibilities

• Electrical testing and characterization of high-speed IP integrated with digital ASIC logic
• Interfaces include SAS, SATA, DDR, NAND
• Implement tests using host emulators/exercisers, bus analyzers, jammers and actual host systems
• Develop test infrastructure and automation frameworks with the goal of finding hardware issues early in the ASIC & product development cycle
• Develop, implement and debug embedded C firmware to be used for validation of internally designed ASICs
• Debug of memory and host interface related issues and driving solutions to successful completion
• Generate test reports, documentation and communicate results to internal and external stake holders
