Summary

The job is a programming role within Epic Games' Fortnite Creative Team, focusing on the Verse Framework Team. Requirements

  • Strong C++ skills and the ability to code and architect gameplay mechanics and associated tools
  • Experience related to creating and maintaining APIs with strong backward compatibility requirements
  • Creativity in problem-solving and the ability to think outside of the established solutions
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and work with team members to help define deliverables
  • Experience with multiple programming languages and a proven track record of leveraging the strengths of a language while avoiding its pitfalls
  • Well-versed in game technologies and the ability to discuss trade-offs and details of a variety of gameplay systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience writing performant code that runs on multiple different hardware platforms, especially game consoles

Responsibilities

  • Architect gameplay systems and implement robust, stable, and usable APIs for internal and external game developers
  • Collaborate closely with programmers across multiple teams to help develop solutions that can meet their needs
  • Proactively work with other developers to create Verse APIs that unlock the power of Unreal Engine in UEFN
  • Research new solutions and systems for expressing gameplay concepts in the Verse programming language to help build the foundation for the Metaverse
  • Support technical excellence on multiple platforms and optimize/fix bugs in existing gameplay systems
