Join CesiumAstro, a developer of communication systems for various platforms, as a Principal Power Electronics Engineer II. You will be responsible for power electronics circuits and systems throughout the development process, focusing on point-of-load converters and standalone dc-dc converter modules. Design responsibilities include isolated and non-isolated DC-DC converters, maximum power point tracking solar power converters, and system-level power management. You will lead hardware designs from concept to production, mentor team members, and present designs to customers and executives. Excellent communication skills are essential. The position requires a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering and extensive experience in power electronics design and analysis.
Requirements
- Have a Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- Have 11 years of industry or university research experience in power electronics design, analysis, test, and troubleshooting
- Have extensive industry experience designing successful power electronics products from concept through schematic, layout, manufacturing, test, and deployment
- Have experience designing power system architectures
- Have expertise in power circuit analysis, such as worst-case circuit analysis, failure method effectivity and criticality, and reliability
- Have expert-level proficiency in electronics design (EDA) tools such as Altium
- Have expert-level proficiency in PCB layout for power circuits
- Have experience with SPICE-based circuit simulation
- Have experience with power integrity simulation tools such as Ansys or ADS
- Have extensive hands-on experience with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and signal generators
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Be responsible for power electronics circuits and systems through all stages of the development process
- Design isolated and non-isolated DC-DC converters
- Design maximum power point tracking solar power converters
- Design and analyze magnetics
- Design system-level power management and distribution
- Design point-of-load regulators
- Design switching and linear regulators
- Design filters
- Perform stability analysis and measurement
- Be responsible for hardware designs from concept through production, including product roadmaps, block diagrams, part selection, schematic design, PCB layout and routing, analysis, manufacturing (working with contract manufacturers), test, qualification, and in-orbit support
- Serve as technical and professional mentors in their field
- Present engineering design review materials to our customers and executive team
- Participate in proposal-writing efforts
Preferred Qualifications
- Have experience with space electronics design, development, and qualification
- Have knowledge of EMI/EMC design and mitigation techniques
