Summary
Join Instrument's freelance network as a detail-oriented Production Designer to translate existing desktop webpage designs into a component-based design system for digital product clients. This remote role, preferably based in Central or South America, focuses on accurate application of templates, alignment, and consistent visual execution. You will apply an existing design system to numerous desktop webpage layouts in Figma, translating visual designs into production-ready comps using predefined templates and components. Collaboration with a Lead Designer and Project Manager is key to ensure design consistency and accuracy. The ideal candidate possesses a keen eye for detail, experience with design systems, Figma proficiency, and a portfolio showcasing production design work. Pay is $35-$75 per hour on a 1099 basis.
Requirements
- A strong eye for detail and visual consistency, especially in production-oriented design work
- Demonstrated experience working within established design systems and component libraries
- Proficiency in Figma with a focus on system-driven layout execution
- The ability to interpret specifications and execute against them with minimal deviation
- A portfolio that showcases production design work, including multi-page layouts or system-driven projects
- Clear, responsive communication and comfort working on a structured, deadline-driven timeline
- Familiarity with web accessibility considerations and responsive design best practices
Responsibilities
- Apply an existing design system to a large set of desktop webpage layouts in Figma
- Translate visual designs into production-ready comps using predefined templates and components
- Follow a structured process to ensure design consistency and accuracy across page designs
- Partner with a Lead Designer and Project Manager to prioritize deliverables and review progress
- Ensure visual alignment with existing templates, spacing, grids, typography, and imagery
- Maintain organized Figma files with strong naming conventions and layered structure
- Flag inconsistencies or component gaps to the internal team when needed
