Profitability Actuary

Summary

Join Wakam, a leading European digital insurer, as a Profitability Actuary and play a key role in monitoring and improving the performance of our insurance products. You will act as the actuarial lead for a portfolio of partnerships, driving pricing development and technical support. Responsibilities include monitoring profitability and claims ratios, raising alerts for deviations, presenting results to internal and external stakeholders, and supporting reserving work. This role requires a degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, or Data Science, along with proficiency in actuarial tools and programming languages like Python or R. Requirements

• A degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, or Data Science
• Familiarity with data platforms like Snowflake, as well as visualization tools like PowerBI
• Proficiency with actuarial tools: EMBLEM, AKUR8, or equivalent linear modeling platforms
• Strong command of Python or R and exposure to machine learning methods
• Excellent communication and prioritization skills
• Fluency in English (required); French is a strong plus

Responsibilities

• Act as the actuarial lead for your assigned portfolio of partnerships
• Drive pricing development and technical support in collaboration with the Business Development and Partner teams
• Monitor profitability and claims ratios via dashboards and in-depth actuarial studies
• Raise alerts and propose corrective actions in case of profitability deviations
• Present technical results and performance insights to internal committees and external partners
• Support reserving work in coordination with the Reserving team for your portfolio
• Contribute to cross-functional projects involving Underwriting, Product, and Data teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in P&C insurance, preferably in Motor pricing or profitability
• Familiarity with data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau
