Summary

Join DRT Strategies as a Quality Assurance Engineer to provide quality assurance to testing processes and procedures for public health IT systems and applications. Collaborate with public health scientists, data engineers, researchers, and product managers to ensure thorough evaluation of public health IT systems and applications.

Requirements

  • Must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust with the US federal government
  • At least two years of experience supporting public health projects
  • Experience conducting thorough testing of all system functionalities after migration to ensure proper functioning in the new cloud environment
  • Proficiency in load testing methodologies to validate system performance under expected user loads
  • At least five years’ leading IT development or analytical projects or with collaborating with technical teams
  • Knowledge of Agile processes, Azure DevOps, JIRA or other project management platforms commonly used in software development
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Well-organized, proactive, and works well in a team-setting
  • Skilled in communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences and collaborators
  • Skilled in translating public health information, data, and concepts to functional technical requirements

Responsibilities

  • Develop and document detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts to ensure thorough evaluation of public health IT systems and applications
  • Perform manual testing and leverage automated testing tools to validate functionality, performance, and security of public health IT solutions
  • Identify, document, and track software defects and inconsistencies, working closely with development teams to ensure timely resolution
  • Ensure health IT systems meet industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA) by conducting compliance and risk assessments
  • Conduct performance and stress testing to assess the scalability, reliability, and stability of public health IT applications under various conditions
  • Validate data accuracy and integrity within health IT systems, ensuring proper handling and security of sensitive patient information
  • Work closely with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to understand requirements, provide feedback, and ensure quality deliverables
  • Design and implement automated test scripts and frameworks to streamline testing processes and improve efficiency
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of test procedures, test results, and quality assurance activities, providing clear and actionable reports
  • Participate in retrospectives and quality reviews to identify areas for improvement in the testing process and contribute to best practices
  • Facilitate UAT by coordinating with end-users to validate that health IT solutions meet their needs and function as intended in real-world scenarios

Preferred Qualifications

Recent experience with CDC or HHS IT projects
