Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in high-voltage substation and transmission line project management, with experience on 500kV projects
  • Proven success managing high-voltage projects in California, with direct experience working with utilities on complex regulatory and technical matters
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape and interconnection processes for utility-scale projects
  • Expertise in EPC contracts and transmission infrastructure, with knowledge of high-voltage equipment and systems
  • Proficiency in project management and collaboration tools, including Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and Slack

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle management of high-voltage substation and transmission projects at voltage levels up to 500kV, from design through commissioning and closeout
  • Work closely with PG&E, SCE, SDG&E and other utilities to ensure project execution aligns with grid operator standards and resolve any technical or regulatory challenges
  • Manage three-way relationships between internal resources, utilities, and EPC contractors to ensure engineering, construction, and procurement activities meet project milestone dates
  • Manage project budgets, cash flows, and financial forecasting to ensure projects stay within financial targets
  • Facilitate invoice reviews and change orders, collaborating with finance teams to maintain transparency and accuracy across financial documentation
  • Oversee financial and progress reporting to ensure alignment with both organizational goals and external stakeholder expectations
  • Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring alignment with utility and contractor timelines
  • Proactively identify potential scheduling issues and implement strategies to maintain project momentum and meet critical milestones
  • Lead the development and administration of construction contracts for high-voltage substation and transmission projects
  • Manage agreements with contractors, utilities, vendors, and third-party stakeholders to ensure all deliverables meet quality and timeline expectations
  • Design and implement quality assurance processes to ensure construction practices on site meets the technical requirements and regulatory standards
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, Power Purchase Agreements, and interconnection requirements
  • Prepare comprehensive reports for both internal and external stakeholders, providing updates on project progress, financial status, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication with utilities and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are understood and met
  • Manage engineering documents, including RFIs, submittals, and as-builts, ensuring timely responses to technical issues and prompt resolution of action items
