Join our team at Vee Healthtek as a professional fee (E/M) coder and/or hospital outpatient coder. We are seeking individuals with CPC, COC, CCS, or CIC certification and minimum 2 years' experience in coding. As a home-based office worker, you will be responsible for abstracting ICD-10 CM diagnoses codes and CPT procedural codes, maintaining productivity rates, and demonstrating high-quality standards.
Requirements
- CPC, COC, CCS or CIC certification with minimum 2 years’ experience in professional fee (E/M) coding and/or hospital outpatient coding
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Have thorough knowledge of medical anatomy, physiology and medical terminology. Official Coding Guidelines for ICD-10-CM for correct and accurate coding
Responsibilities
- Responsible for abstracting ICD 10 CM diagnoses codes and CPT procedural codes in accordance with official coding guidelines
- Abstract any other clinical information from medical records
- Maintain standard industry productivity rates (minimum 8 to 10 charts/hour)
- Demonstrate ability to maintain high quality standards of 95% or greater
- Proficient in utilizing technology (Encoder, MS Office) to perform responsibilities
- Follow client specific guidelines wherever applicable & working as per client updates and coding the charts accordingly

Major Responsibilities:
- Responsible for abstracting ICD 10 CM diagnoses codes and CPT procedural codes in accordance with official coding guidelines.
- Abstract any other clinical information from medical records.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Communicates with department manager or client on coding, compliance, and documentation issues
- Seeks clarification from healthcare providers or other designated resources to ensure accurate and complete coding.
- Enhances coding knowledge and skills with continuing education activities and by reviewing pertinent literature.
- Within the scope of the job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Follows guidelines for each project as set by the client.
Required Skills:
- CPC, COC, CCS or CIC certification with minimum 2 years’ experience in professional fee (E/M) coding and/or hospital outpatient coding.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Have thorough knowledge of medical anatomy, physiology and medical terminology. Official Coding Guidelines for ICD-10-CM for correct and accurate coding.
- EPIC training a plus! Specialties include GI, anesthesia, wound care, pediatrics, radiology, and general surgery.
**Pay Range: $24-27/hour
Travel Requirements/%Time:Home-based office that is private, without distractions.
