Requirements

  • Has at least two years of experience as a legal assistant or law clerk
  • Holds a law degree (or equivalent) from their home country
  • At least 2 years of experience as a paralegal in a U.S. immigration law firm
  • Is bilingual in English (C1 or higher) and Spanish, both spoken and written
  • Can work independently on multiple projects with minimal supervision
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. immigration procedures, visa types, and forms (family-based, humanitarian, and employment-based immigration)
  • Permanently resides in Latin America
  • Owns a reliable laptop (Windows or Mac, 2017 or newer) with a stable internet connection

Responsibilities

  • Draft and prepare immigration-related legal documents, including visa petitions, affidavits, appeals, and motions
  • Submit immigration petitions and applications to relevant agencies, meeting all deadlines
  • Conduct legal research on immigration laws, regulations, and case precedents
  • Communicate with clients in English and Spanish, addressing inquiries and providing updates
  • Maintain organized case files and accurate documentation for immigration cases
  • Prepare and review immigration forms for visas and other processes
  • Support attorneys with administrative tasks related to immigration cases
  • Track visa deadlines and case progress, keeping attorneys informed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Is proficient in legal software like Clio or MyCase (preferred)
  • Familiarity with immigration-specific databases and software
