Part-Time ELA Associate Instructor

Summary

Join SEO's community of passionate educators as an Associate Instructor, ELA, and implement a rigorous college prep curriculum for motivated high school students. Co-teach alongside Instructors, facilitate classroom instruction, teach mini lessons, and provide Scholar support.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in content related field
• Experience working with high school-aged students
• Comfortable with and skilled at navigating technological learning systems
• Understanding and practice of student-centered pedagogy
• Depth of knowledge in Advanced high school-level Mathematics

Responsibilities

• Online Instruction & Facilitation – Co-Teach four to five periods including ELA and Identity & Empowerment classes
• Navigate Instructional Technologies – Learn and efficiently utilize our instructional technologies such as Zoom (video conferencing and chat), Brightspace (Learning Management System), Desmos, and GSuit applications
• Content Preparation – Read, internalize, and practice all lesson plans and materials provided by SEO prior to teaching
• Classroom Culture – Project an energetic, engaging, and approachable persona to promote students’ connection to the content, investment in the learning experience, and positive relationship to all members of the community
• Collaboration with SEO Staff and Other Instructors – Plan and work alongside an Instructor to build optimal experiences for Scholar learning in co-teaching and/or single instruction models

Preferred Qualifications

• Secondary Education Degree and high school teaching experience
• Online Course Facilitation Experience
• Knowledge and experience with Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
