Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, civil engineering, business administration, or a related field is preferred (but not required)
  • 15+ years in commercial construction management, including roles in estimating, project management, operations, and field supervision
  • Proven progression from Superintendent, Project Manager, COO, etc
  • Strong background in warehouse, industrial, manufacturing, and tenant finish projects; experience with ground-up construction on a smaller scale is necessary
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams. Must be energetic and motivated, with a desire to anticipate and offer team assistance as needed
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, including presentation skills
  • Proficient with MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other relevant construction management software
  • Strong analytical skills with a track record of resolving complex project challenges
  • Experience in maintaining and building client relationships
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Prior business ownership or experience in a family-owned business is a strong plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership to align company operations with strategic goals
  • Manage, mentor, and develop staff to foster a culture of excellence and collaboration
  • Oversee daily business operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
  • Uphold and enforce company policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Act as the key communicator between ownership and the operational team
  • Lead projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they meet scope, budget, and timeline
  • Supervise and review project deliverables for compliance and quality standards
  • Track project progress and implement corrective actions when necessary
  • Organize and lead regular project management meetings to address progress and challenges
  • Maintain and enhance relationships with existing clients to ensure ongoing satisfaction
  • Address client concerns promptly to uphold the company's reputation
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and deliver tailored solutions
  • Engage with industry professionals to expand the company network
  • Identify and assess new project opportunities aligned with company strengths
  • Work with ownership to develop and implement growth strategies
  • Monitor project financials to ensure profitability and financial targets are met
  • Provide regular financial and project status reports to ownership
  • Assist in budget preparation and make recommendations for adjustments as needed
  • Identify potential project risks and implement mitigation strategies
  • Serve as the Safety Officer, ensuring adherence to all safety regulations
  • Maintain and enhance quality control processes across all projects
  • Lead efforts to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Stay updated on industry developments to keep the company competitive
  • Promote a culture that values ongoing improvement and innovation
  • Assist in negotiations, arbitration, or litigation as necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability to thrive in family-owned business settings, understanding their unique dynamics and cultural nuances
  • Demonstrated experience working with construction companies with revenues under $20 million, effectively managing limited resources to achieve company goals
  • Successful history of scaling small companies, driving significant growth in revenue and market presence
