Requirements

  • Extensive editorial experience (3–5 years)
  • Prior experience (2+ years) with Lonely Planet’s structure, editorial style conventions and production processes
  • High-level understanding and knowledge of general editorial conventions
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, InDesign
  • Excellent eye for detail
  • Excellent relationship building, training and liaison skills
  • Excellent communication, problem solving and negotiation/persuasion skills
  • A thorough understanding of operating in a content management system
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of a team
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritise workload while maintaining strong attention to detail
  • Must be customer focused with a flexible and adaptable attitude and a proactive, constructive approach
  • Passion for travel

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and train new freelance editors
  • Scheduling and contracting of resources
  • Contribute to quality assurance efforts and maintenance of editorial standards, including adherence to Editorial Principles and our internal guidelines through: Ongoing checking of work and giving of feedback to freelance editors
  • Ongoing support of freelance editors
  • Development and maintenance of editorial style and process documentation
