Remote Software Engineer Two, Backend (Loan Originations)

Summary

Join our Loan Origination and Reporting team at Affirm, where you'll work on creating reliable and scalable systems for loan requests. As a software engineer, you'll break down larger projects into individual tasks, collaborate with others, and ensure timely delivery of your work.

Requirements

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems
• Proficiency in one of Python or Kotlin
• Familiarity with building blocks of distributed systems and technologies like AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes
• Experience designing, developing and launching APIs at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin
• Mastered taking a simple problem or business scenario into a solution that interacts with multiple software components
• Comfortable navigating a large code base, debugging others' code, and providing feedback to other engineers through code reviews
• Strong verbal and written communication skills that support effective collaboration with our global engineering team
• Either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Responsibilities

• Break down larger projects into individual tasks
• Deliver tasks in multiple phases
• Collaborate with others to ensure timely delivery of work
• Support peers and stakeholders in product development lifecycle
• Create and monitor metrics for team's artifacts
• Escalate when needed, and support 'keep the lights on' & on-call efforts
• Contribute to a sense of community on your team by engaging in growth and development activities
