Join us in seeking an experienced Software Safety Engineer in support of the Program Executive Office Ground Combat Systems (PEO GCS). The successful candidate will provide high-level engineering analysis and feedback throughout the software development lifecycle, focusing on risk management and system design.

Requirements

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • A Bachelors degree from an ABET accredited program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering from a college or university
  • A Masters degree in any of the preceding disciplines may be substituted for one year of general experience
  • A minimum total of 10 years experience in the development of software for DoD computer systems using Ada, C, C++, or Java programming languages including a minimum of three years experience in the development of real-time software for DOD tactical platforms or DoD simulation/stimulation systems

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering analysis of software configuration and functional analysis
  • Transform system architecture from functional to physical
  • Define alternative system concepts, configuration items, and system elements
  • Recommend product and process solutions and define/refine physical interfaces
  • Conduct engineering analysis related to system/subsystem design, development, integration, and testing documentation
  • Ensure software safety compliance with MIL-STD-882E within a DevSecOps CI/CD software pipeline or waterfall SDLC approach
  • Perform software verification and validation, including unit and system-level testing
  • Provide recommendations on software safety impacts at system and subsystem levels
  • Participate in design analysis, design layout, and simulation for software safety
