Requirements

  • A minimum BS Chemical Engineering, advanced degree preferred
  • Will also consider a Chemist who has been involved with building & running small scale pilot plants
  • Best with 5+ years of experience in an industrial R&D environment, including co-ops and internships
  • Has scaled up processes from bench through pilot plant scale
  • Knowledge of extrusion processes
  • Mechanical aptitude for building, setting up, and troubleshooting lab equipment
  • Experience with LabView is a plus
  • Must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer without sponsorship now or in the future

Responsibilities

  • Run pilot plant, collect data, and analyze samples
  • Assist in assembling and safely operating laboratory-scale extrusion and reactor systems
  • Keep a lab notebook. Carefully observe and report trends, anomalies, and unexpected results
  • Run routine analytical tests of samples from your micro-unit and small pilot plant
  • Write SOPs and conduct safety reviews. Participate in training as needed
  • Aid in the design and development of pilot and commercial plants based on research findings
  • Partner with the team who runs the large pilot plant in TX and the technology licensing partner company brought in to expedite commercial plant design
  • Provide R&D summaries and presentations to senior management and customers
