Ruby Software Engineer

Summary

Join our remote team as a Senior Developer and contribute to the development and maintenance of our core Ruby on Rails applications that power our media network, used by millions of users and software advertisers. You will design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code, ensuring optimal performance and quality. You will also identify and resolve bottlenecks and bugs, while maintaining code quality, organization, and automation. This contract position offers an hourly rate, with seniority level and salary determined through interviews and a review of your qualifications and experience.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in web development projects
• Experience working with front-end and back-end development
• Proficient in Ruby (+Rails), and at least one other programming language (Python, PHP, Node.js , etc)
• Experience with relational database
• Good understanding of object oriented programming
• Good understanding of Chef/Puppet or a similar configuration management tool
• Comfortable following the best practices like testing (rspec), refactoring and writing clear, self-documenting code

• Design, build and maintain efficient, reusable and reliable code
• Ensure the best possible performance and quality for our code
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs and devise solutions to these problems
• Help maintain code quality, organization and automation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Node.js
• Experience with Python
• Experience refactoring legacy code / projects
• Experience with Ember.js , SolidJS, or a similar Javascript framework
