Summary

Join Royal Ambulance as a Rural Paramedic in Gerlach, NV, a unique role combining year-round emergency care with event support during Burning Man. You will be responsible for delivering advanced life support (ALS) in a remote area, collaborating with local first responders, and providing community education. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older (for insurance purposes)
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Valid Nevada Paramedic License with ambulance endorsement (or nationally registered paramedic able to obtain Nevada license prior to employment start)
  • AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS
  • Trauma certification (PHTLS or ITLS)
  • Completion of ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-300, IS-015B, ICS-700, and IS-800 courses (prior to employment)
  • TB Test and Flu Shot (within the last year)
  • Immunization Records (Tdap, Varicella, HepB, and MMR within last 10 years)

Responsibilities

  • Prompt and reliable attendance; ensure constant preparedness for emergency responses
  • Deliver high-quality Advanced Life Support (ALS) patient care according to Royal Ambulance Nevada protocols, procedures, and best practices
  • Rapidly respond to emergency calls via ambulance, quick response vehicles (QRV/4x4), or other necessary methods
  • Collaborate closely and professionally with Gerlach Volunteer Fire Department, community members, and other partner agencies
  • Provide training and educational support to volunteer firefighters and community residents
  • Maintain ambulances, equipment, and medical devices in clean, organized, response-ready conditions
  • Clearly document patient care reports and communicate effectively with receiving facilities
  • Participate actively in continuous education, team development, and training exercises
  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and composure during high-stress situations
  • Engage with special events, notably the Burning Man festival, integrating regular duties with temporary operational expansions
  • Handle protected health information (PHI) according to HIPAA standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a medic in rural, austere, or remote operational environments
  • Prior fire service experience or certifications (e.g., Firefighter I, extrication)
  • EMS Instructor experience
  • Prior Burning Man event or similar event medical operations experience
  • Experience working and living in communal, close-quarter environments
