Summary
Join Data Meaning as a Level 2/3 SAP BW Support Analyst and provide advanced support, maintenance, and development services within the SAP BW environment. You will play a key role in transitioning data models and logic from SAP BW to Snowflake, collaborating with data architecture and engineering teams. This position requires deep BW expertise, a strong understanding of modern data platforms, and a commitment to evolving the organization’s data landscape. The role involves monitoring and supporting process chains, analyzing BW objects, designing data flows, and participating in the migration to Snowflake. You will work remotely from India, following a specified schedule. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of hands-on SAP BW experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with SAP BW, including BW 7.x and/or BW/4HANA
- Strong expertise in process chain monitoring and debugging
- Proficient in BW object modeling, including InfoObjects, DTPs, Transformations, ADSOs, CompositeProviders
- Solid understanding of data warehousing principles, ETL processes, and SAP data sources (including ECC and S/4HANA)
- Experience with data platform modernization or cloud migrations (Snowflake preferred)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communicator with experience working across technical and functional teams
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)
- Ability to work independently and handle incident resolution with limited documentation
Responsibilities
- Monitor and support daily, weekly, and monthly process chains in the SAP BW environment
- Analyze and troubleshoot process chain failures, ensuring timely resolution and minimal business disruption
- Collaborate with the LP DE/BI Team and BASIS teams to escalate and resolve performance or system-related issues
- Document root causes, resolutions, and process improvement opportunities
- Analyze existing BW objects such as InfoProviders, DTPs, Transformations, and Queries to identify data lineage and dependencies
- Reverse engineer legacy solutions to extract embedded business logic in preparation for system optimization or migration (e.g., to Snowflake)
- Translate reverse-engineered logic into technical specifications to support the cloud data platform transition
- Design and implement scalable and efficient data flows from source systems (SAP and non-SAP) to BW targets such as ADSOs, InfoCubes, and CompositeProviders
- Develop and enhance BW components including InfoObjects, ADSOs, Transformations, DTPs, and CompositeProviders
- Ensure alignment of data models and flows with business requirements and best practices
- Participate in performance tuning, transport management, and deployment cycles
- Collaborate with data engineers, architects, and business analysts to migrate existing BW data models and logic to Snowflake
- Provide detailed documentation of existing BW logic to support the re-platforming effort
- Participate in validation and parallel run activities to ensure accuracy and integrity of migrated data and transformations
- Act as a BW subject matter expert in workshops and technical discussions related to the migration effort
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SAP BW/4HANA migrations or upgrade projects
- Hands-on experience or exposure to Snowflake or other modern cloud data platforms
- Familiarity with SQL-based ELT tools and cloud data integration approaches
- Knowledge of integration with BI tools like Power BI or Tableau is desirable
