Join Quantexa's Research and Development team as a Mid to Senior level Scala Engineer to build and shape the next generation of products. You will be working on the core Contextual Decision Intelligence offering, the Quantexa Platform, which helps customers solve business problems in areas such as fraud and financial crime. The R&D department uses Scala and functional programming, and you will be involved in the full engineering life cycle, from design and implementation to testing and deployment. Requirements
- Have commercial Scala and Functional Programming experience (candidates without may be considered if their commercial background is relevant, e.g., Java, and they have some non-commercial Scala experience)
- Have experience of the full engineering life cycle, from design and implementation through to testing and deployment
- Have experience with DevOps tooling and approaches (automation and tooling)
- Have passion and drive to grow within one of the UKβs fastest-growing scale-ups
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deliver high-quality, well-engineered solutions to complex problems
- Take a big-picture approach to problem-solving, ensuring the solution works well within the wider system
Preferred Qualifications
- Have experience working with any of the following technologies or libraries: Akka/Pekko, Monix, Cats, Spring Boot, Elasticsearch, Gradle, Apache Spark, Hadoop, Docker, Kubernetes
- Have experience with AI Development tools such as Claude Code or Cursor
- Have experience with Cloud technologies and deployments (GCP)
- Have experience building software which deploys to both on-premise and cloud Environments
- Have experience mentoring junior Engineers
