Summary

Join Halcyon's Quantitative Analysis team as a hands-on data expert to build the most resilient anti-ransomware platform. Dive into massive datasets, uncovering insights and prototyping decision-making systems to directly shape the product's defenses. This role involves ingesting, cleaning, correlating, and analyzing large-scale security datasets from various sources. You will prototype and test analytics, collaborate with cross-functional teams, explore new data sources, and build dashboards to communicate insights. The ideal candidate possesses strong big data skills, curiosity about security, and enjoys connecting data with strategy. This is a highly exploratory role offering independence to explore new ideas and drive real-world impact.

Requirements

  • Strong background in big data analytics, content research, or data science, ideally with 7+ years of experience
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and distributed data tools (e.g., Spark, Databricks, etc.)
  • Experience working with large, noisy datasets and turning them into actionable insights
  • Comfort with both batch and streaming pipelines
  • Curiosity about cybersecurity (malware, EDR, threats, etc.). No deep expertise required, but a willingness to learn is critical
  • Great communication skills and a proactive mindset. You’ll have autonomy, but also need to collaborate across functions

Responsibilities

  • Ingest, clean, correlate, and analyze large-scale security datasets from endpoints, networks, and behavioral sources
  • Prototype and test analytics that drive detection, classification, or prevention decisions
  • Collaborate with security researchers, engineers, and product teams to integrate findings into the product
  • Explore new data sources and define what should be collected to increase intelligence value
  • Work across batch and streaming data pipelines to support both long-term analysis and near-real-time signals
  • Build dashboards or visualizations to communicate insights (internally or externally)

Preferred Qualifications
