Security Engineer II

Summary

Join Bitso as a Security Engineer II and design, implement, and maintain robust security solutions across network infrastructure and cloud environments. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to protect systems, particularly those supporting critical financial operations, against evolving threats. Your expertise in network engineering and security will be crucial in building resilient defenses, ensuring compliance with local financial regulations, and responding to security incidents. Based in Mexico City, this role requires 3+ years of network engineering experience with a strong focus on security. You will need proficiency in automation scripting and experience with IAM systems and security frameworks. The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving and communication skills and the ability to work autonomously in a remote environment.

Requirements

• Must be based in Mexico City and located within 2 hours commuting distance to the city center for occasional on-site requirements
• 3+ years of experience in network engineering with a strong focus on security implementation and management
• Solid understanding of network protocols, architecture, and security principles with hands-on experience in network security technologies, particularly in environments handling high-volume financial transactions
• Experience working with Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems and principles, including user provisioning, role-based access control, and authentication mechanisms, with an understanding of how these apply to financial system access
• Proficiency in automation with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
• Experience working with security frameworks and compliance standards, with a keen understanding of their application in the financial sector, including those relevant to SPEI operations
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex security and network issues, especially those impacting financial service availability and integrity
• Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including those involved in regulatory compliance
• Ability to work autonomously while being accountable and self-driven in a remote environment

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our systems are protected against evolving threats while maintaining operational efficiency
• Build resilient defenses, ensuring compliance with local financial regulations, and responding to security incidents effectively

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS security services and cloud infrastructure
• Experience with container orchestration technologies (e.g., Kubernetes)
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform
• Experience with security monitoring and SIEM tools, particularly in a financial context for detecting anomalous activities
• Understanding of fraud detection and prevention mechanisms relevant to electronic payment systems
