Security Engineer Intern

Summary

Join Canva's 12-week, remote-friendly internship program as a Security Engineer Intern and gain valuable experience in a fast-paced, cloud-first environment. You'll work on real-life projects, collaborate with experienced engineers, and learn about security technologies and practices. The program runs from early December to late February, with opportunities to visit Canva's campus and experience the company culture firsthand. You'll be supported by a dedicated Host and Buddy, and be part of a welcoming Early Talent community.

Requirements

• You are currently enrolled and completing your studies between 2026 and mid-2027
• You are based in Australia or New Zealand and have working rights
• You have an interest and passion for cyber security
• Proficient with one or more modern program languages (Golang, Python or Java preferred)
• Ability to work with a range of Canvanauts from different backgrounds, with different expertise, and with different professional and personal needs
• You are excited to explore AI tools and use them in smart, helpful ways to boost your workflow
• You are able to commit to the 12-week, full-time summer program from early December 2025 to late February 2026

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with your assigned team to design, develop, test and maintain your intern project
• Developing and maintaining documentation for software development processes, procedures, and guidelines
• Developing your craft with some of the most talented engineers
• Interacting with a wide variety of stakeholders from both inside and outside your team to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
• Learning tools, libraries and services that support Canva engineers in building secure software
• Identifying security controls in Canva’s compute, platform engineering, and cloud infrastructure disciplines
• Learning new and emerging security technologies that make it easier to reliably maintain platform and infrastructure security
• Discovery and triage of vulnerabilities across Canva’s threat landscape
