Summary

Join Cohere Health's Data Platform team as a Senior Analytics Engineer to design and implement advanced data models, standardize the semantic layer, and enhance data quality. Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and cross-functional partners to translate business logic into scalable models and ensure data outputs are well-documented and production-ready. Mentor other Analytics Engineers and contribute to improving modeling practices and data platform architecture. This role requires expertise in data modeling, engineering, and business impact, shaping how healthcare data is structured and used. The ideal candidate will own the end-to-end design and implementation of data models, lead semantic layer development, and partner with various teams to translate business logic into datasets. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or similar roles
  • Deep proficiency in Spark, SQL and dbt; strong understanding of data modeling principles (e.g., dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas)
  • Hands-on experience building analytics workflows using Airflow and AWS Athena
  • Strong understanding of data lakehouse architectures (e.g., S3, Glue, EMR, Iceberg/Parquet formats) and how they support scalable analytics
  • Hands-on experience with version control, CI/CD, and data testing frameworks
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into scalable data solutions
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset; comfortable working across product, analytics, engineering, and business teams
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a STEM, analytics, or related discipline

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end design and implementation of scalable, reusable data models that power enterprise reporting and analytics
  • Lead the development and adoption of semantic layers, trusted metrics, and standardized KPIs across the organization
  • Partner with analysts, product managers, and engineers to translate complex business logic into governed, analysis-ready datasets
  • Define and uphold best practices across data modeling, testing, documentation, version control, and data quality monitoring
  • Promote the use of data lineage, observability, and validation frameworks to build trust and transparency in analytics workflows
  • Collaborate with Architects and Staff Engineers to align on architecture, optimize performance, and improve platform reliability
  • Drive team-wide improvements in tooling, automation, and workflow efficiency
  • Mentor and support other Analytics Engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and skill development
  • Participate in on-call rotations to support critical analytics pipelines and ensure continuity of data availability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with EMR, claims, or healthcare-related data
  • Familiarity with modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Airflow, Looker, Tableau, or similar)
