Senior Applied Scientist

Summary

Join Wolt's Merchant Product Data team as an Applied Scientist and leverage machine learning to enhance over 70 million product data items. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team to refine product data accuracy, completeness, and structure. Develop and deploy machine learning and generative AI models to improve search, discovery, and other key use cases. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely in Finland, Sweden, or Germany, or in one of our tech hubs in Helsinki, Berlin, or Stockholm. The position involves building robust, scalable models for large-scale deployments and requires strong communication skills to bridge the gap between data science and business needs. Compensation includes a negotiable monthly pay and DoorDash RSUs.

Requirements

• Identify as a problem solver who loves leveraging data science and machine learning to drive business results and create real-world impact
• Know what it takes to build robust, scalable models suitable for large-scale deployments
• Be comfortable managing the entire lifecycle of data science projects, from ideation through to production and ongoing maintenance
• Bring a solid educational background and practical skills in machine learning, statistics, and NLP
• Be skilled in writing production-level code and following engineering best practices, ensuring your solutions are efficient, maintainable, and scalable
• Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, bridging the gap between data science and business needs
• Excel at breaking down complex business challenges into clear, solvable machine learning problems, and designing data-driven solutions to address them

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of use cases within a product development team—from identifying high-value opportunities to developing, prototyping, and deploying solutions, and ensuring they continuously improve in production
• Develop algorithms and data-driven solutions to enhance our extensive product data
• Refine the accuracy, completeness, and structure of over 70 million product listings—encompassing item names, descriptions, categories, and attributes
• Build machine learning and generative AI models to deliver high-quality, well-classified product data, empowering Wolt merchants and improving search, discovery, and other key use cases
