Senior Backend Engineer

Summary

Join BlaBlaCar Daily, a fast-growing business unit, as a Senior Backend Software Engineer on the Partnerships squad. You will contribute to the development of BlaBlaCar Daily's commute carpooling solution, working on technical challenges and product features related to user identity, account management, pricing, and partner management. The role involves the entire development lifecycle, from early conception to deployment and support. You will primarily work on backend features, with occasional frontend contributions. Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in backend development
• Our internal stack is Python (Flask), if you have experience on Django or other APIrest API frameworks, it’s a good fit too
• Familiar with databases; especially relational ones like PostgreSQL (extension PostGis)
• Computer science background (database design, algorithms and data structures, networking, abstractions, security)
• Ability to find the good balance between fast iterations and quality of delivery
• Ability to take a research problem from conception to production-ready for our users
• Fluent in English

Responsibilities

• Participate in the whole application development lifecycle, including: early-stage product meetings, architecture design, development, tests strategy, deployment to production, monitoring, alerting and support
• Support and collaborate with other engineers on the team to develop our backend projects together
• Adapt existing feature implementations to growing scalability challenges
• Develop new functionality to meet internal and external demands required for Daily to remain compliant in the markets we operate in

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with developer tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and monitoring solutions (Datadog)
• Experience with OSRM or GraphHopper, and graph optimization algorithms
• Experience with web frontend technologies, especially react, typescript and vite.js
