Senior Backend Engineer

Summary

Join Parkade, a company revolutionizing private building parking, as a Backend Engineer. You will play a key role in scaling our Python-based server and API, impacting mobile and web app development. Requirements

• 6+ years experience doing backend work at tech companies
• Strong familiarity (3+ years) with Python. Deep understanding of language, runtime, and best practices
• Experience maintaining large codebases with multiple contributors, with clear ability to make solid design decisions backed up by mistakes you've made in the past
• Ability to develop infrastructure as needed to support deployments, continuous integration, production hosting, developer environments and more
• Experience filling specification gaps and suggesting your preferred design and product options

Responsibilities

• Help build and scale the Parkade server and API, written in Python, which supports the mobile and web apps
• Have an outsized impact on how things are built
• Work with our team to build a delightful product, inside and out
• Respond to error logs, alerts, and operations feedback to improve system reliability and prevent repeat issues
• Look for opportunities to reduce complexity, prevent bugs before they happen, and build maintainable systems that fail gracefully
• Ensure the backend is built with high reliability, and is easily observable + debuggable

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with SQL databases, and python ORMs in general, Postgres and SQLAlchemy, specifically, are a bonus
• More experience is better — everyone else on the team has at least 12 years experience each as an engineer in tech companies
• You care deeply about problems related to parking and efficient use of space and resources in cities
• You have Team Lead or management experience, or desire to grow in leadership
• Experience writing frontend code with React or React Native
• You are located in (or open to move to) the San Francisco Bay Area and are excited to spend time with our team in person at our SF-Mission office, generally at least a couple days per week
