Senior Backend Engineer

This role requires extensive backend engineering experience in fast-paced SaaS environments and expertise in Node.js and TypeScript. Requirements

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience in fast-paced, agile, SaaS environments
• Proven track record of designing and building complex, high-traffic systems with long-term maintainability in mind
• Expertise in Node.js and TypeScript
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and distributed systems (ClickHouse)
• Experience with containerization, infrastructure as code (Terraform), and cloud platforms (preferably AWS)
• Familiarity with real-time data pipelines and event-driven architectures using Kafka
• Deep understanding of software design principles (e.g., DRY, YAGNI, SOLID) and best practices
• Strong testing mindset—unit, integration, and performance testing included
• Clear, concise communicator with strong written and verbal skills
• Comfortable defending technical decisions and leading cross-functional discussions
• Skilled at breaking down complex problems and mentoring engineers at all levels
• Passionate about documentation, code quality, and consistency across teams

Responsibilities

• Own the full software development lifecycle: design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance
• Design and implement scalable backend systems, RESTful APIs, and database models
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into technical solutions and project estimates
• Lead architectural decisions and technical designs, including infrastructure and database strategies
• Write clean, testable, secure, and maintainable code following best practices and patterns
• Drive code quality through code reviews, mentorship, and continuous improvement efforts
• Monitor system performance, identify areas for improvement, and proactively refactor or enhance where needed
• Contribute to technical documentation, design standards, and engineering processes across the organization
• Represent backend engineering in cross-team initiatives, helping shape broader technical strategies
