Summary

Join Reddit's Community Engineering team and contribute to the technical and product strategy of one of the world's largest websites. Work cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to build innovative products and features. Contribute to the full development lifecycle, from design and development to testing and launch. Collaborate with a team of engineers, contributing to standards and mentoring junior team members. This is a high-impact role requiring strong technical skills and a collaborative spirit. The role is remote-friendly with office space available in select cities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on, professional software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages (Go, Python, Java, C++, Rust, etc)
  • Proven experience building backend systems for large-scale consumer platforms, or social platforms in a high pace environment. Experience with maintaining and optimizing high traffic distributed systems
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities ranging from business logic concerns to system performance and stability
  • Strong organizational skills. The ability to prioritize tasks and keep projects on schedule
  • Entrepreneurial spirit. You are self-directed, innovative, and biased towards action. You love to build new things and thrive in ambiguity and even failure
  • Excellent communication skills. You collaborate effectively with teams in a fully remote environment and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences

Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally, collaborate and partner with product, design, and other engineering counterparts to execute on product and business strategy and build novel products and features that our users will love
  • Contribute to the full development cycle: technical design, development, test, experimentation, analysis, and launch. You’ll be reviewing code and design docs, giving feedback on product specs and mocks
  • Participate with a team of thoughtful, fast-moving, and motivated engineers. Contribute to standards that improve developer workflows, recommend best practices, and help mentor engineers on the team to grow their technical expertise
