This remote position requires 10+ years of business analysis experience, including 5+ years in a senior role, and 7+ years of experience on defense or government contracts. A CompTIA Security+ Certification is required, and a Top Secret clearance is mandatory. The role involves collaboration with various teams and stakeholders, utilizing Agile methodologies and tools like Jira and Confluence.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Systems Analysis, Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of business analysis experience with at least 5 years in a senior or lead capacity
- 7+ years of experience working on defense or government contracts
- CompTIA Security + Certification
- Highly proficient in eliciting, documenting, and managing functional and non-functional requirements and user stories from diverse stakeholders
- Expertise in analyzing existing business processes, identifying inefficiencies, and proposing solutions for optimization is critical
- Proven experience managing business analyst teams and mentoring junior staff
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, and experience with tools like Jira and Confluence
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and traditional waterfall project management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present to senior leadership
- Knowledge of software development practices and system integration
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens and currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- This position supports a federal government contract and therefore requires an active Top Secret clearance
Responsibilities
- Lead the collection, documentation, and validation of complex business and technical requirements from military stakeholders
- Effectively conduct stakeholder interviews, workshops, and analysis sessions to extract detailed functional and non-functional requirements
- Develop comprehensive requirements documentation including business process flows, use cases, and acceptance criteria
- Perform gap analysis between current state operations and desired future capabilities
- Establish and maintain full traceability from initial requirements through design, development, testing, and deployment
- Create and manage requirements traceability matrices ensuring complete coverage throughout the project lifecycle
- Monitor requirements implementation progress and coordinate with development teams to ensure deliverables align with documented specifications
- Manage and mentor a team of business analysts, providing guidance on methodology, documentation standards, and stakeholder engagement
- Assign work, review deliverables, and ensure quality standards are maintained across all analysis activities
- Collaborate closely with software developers, system architects, and test engineers to translate business requirements into technical specifications
- Coordinate with program managers and technical leads to ensure requirements align with project timelines and technical constraints
- Facilitate requirements review sessions and manage change control processes
- Must be able to identify and mitigate risks
- Apply different techniques to facilitate meetings and workshops, create a shared understanding with stakeholders, and engage team members to produce product and portfolio roadmaps
- Collaborate with stakeholders and product teams to break down large epics into features and user stories that can be understood and approved by development team members
- Facilitate increment and planning sessions with clients and team members to ensure that planned work is well defined, planned, articulated, and understood
- Assist business analysts, team leads, clients, and other team members in the use of JIRA as an Agile Lifecycle Management Tool to track work within the program across multiple product teams
- Coach teams in their understanding of the delivery process, the agile mindset, and client values
- Provide guidance and assistance in the usage of JIRA for reporting work progress against epics and other types of work
- Define project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; prepare and distribute progress reports; manage risks and issues; correct deviations from plans; and perform delivery planning for assigned projects
- Document Acceptance Criteria in stories in a way that both development team and business stakeholders can understand and agree on the content
- Function as direct manager for team members including setting goals, day-to-day work, and career growth
- Use excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and present findings and recommendations
- Creating and presenting interactive demos, prototypes, and proof-of-concepts for stakeholder validation and feedback
- Drive innovation initiatives and identify opportunities for process improvement and AI/ML technology adoption
