Join GoDaddy's Global Storage Engineering team as a remote engineer focusing on Ceph technology. You will engineer and deploy cutting-edge storage solutions for internal applications and our private cloud. This role requires extensive Ceph expertise, strong DevOps skills, and experience with Agile methodologies. You will collaborate with internal teams on cross-functional projects, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery. Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in site reliability engineering, with a strong focus on storage solutions
- Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with Ceph storage, including: Deployment and Configuration: Proficiency in deploying and configuring Ceph clusters, including OSDs, MONs, MDS, and RGW
- Performance Tuning: Expertise in tuning Ceph for optimal performance, including adjusting CRUSH maps, pool configurations, and cache settings
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Experience with monitoring Ceph clusters using tools like Ceph Dashboard, Prometheus, and Grafana, and troubleshooting common issues such as slow requests, OSD failures, and network bottlenecks
- Integration: Ability to integrate Ceph with other systems and platforms, such as OpenStack, Kubernetes, and cloud environments
- Upgrades and Maintenance: Experience with upgrading Ceph clusters and performing routine maintenance tasks to ensure high availability and reliability
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix systems, scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash), and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, SaltStack)
- Experience with Nagios-based monitoring tools, such as Icinga2
- Experience with observability tooling, such as Prometheus, Grafana, Mimir, and Loki
- Extensive experience working with OpenStack, including deployment, configuration, and management of OpenStack services (e.g., Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Swift). Ability to troubleshoot and optimize OpenStack environments, and integrate Ceph storage with OpenStack for scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure
- Experience with Agile concepts and methodologies, including participation in Scrum or Kanban teams, and familiarity with Agile tools and practices
- Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols, particularly in relation to storage systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a distributed environment
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Responsibilities
- Help GoDaddy engineer, deploy, and maintain the next generation of storage technologies to support our applications and private cloud
- Participate in agile concepts such as daily stand-up meetings, task tracking boards, design and code reviews, automated testing, continuous integration and deployment
- Work closely with internal teams on cross-functional projects to ensure that their assets are delivered quickly and with the highest quality
- Scope and model various workloads to deliver custom solutions based on GoDaddy product offering needs
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience
- Experience with other distributed storage systems (e.g., GlusterFS, HDFS)
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their storage services
