Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in an Insurance program or related program
  • Minimum of 5 years of liability claim handling experience in different states
  • Experience with commercial lines and transportation liability
  • Strong technical skills with MS Office Suite
  • Ability to communicate with Claimants, Brokers, and Legal Counsel
  • Good time management with an ability to prioritize and delegate work amongst a group
  • Able to work in a loud, fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and adjudicate complex claims, including those in litigation, ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee the investigation, evaluation, and resolution of bodily injury claims involving company vehicles or drivers
  • Conduct comprehensive investigations to confirm coverage and assess liability, utilizing strong analytical skills to inform decisions
  • Prepare detailed file summaries for internal reporting, large loss assessments, and reinsurance purposes, ensuring all pertinent information is accurately documented
  • Ensure all bodily injury claims are handled in accordance with industry best practices and company policies
  • Handle stressful calls with professionalism, delivering clear and factual information to facilitate informed decisions on claims
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a collaborative environment and enhancing overall team performance
  • Effectively manage a busy day-to-day schedule, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines while maintaining quality in claims processing
  • Ensuring compliance of company’s safety policy and procedure by regular review meetings with staff and monitoring company’s CVOR-safety rating, driver vehicle inspections on monthly basis
  • Processing IRP applications and creating truck binder for owner operators by making sure all the truck authority documents are updated
  • Maintaining complete and accurate records of tractor and trailer maintenance files such as preventive maintenance bills for owner operator and company units as well
  • Ensuring all accident claims are registered with updated documents, adjust physical damage claims including unreported damage claims
  • Discuss accidents, damage, preventability and processes with commercial vehicle operators. Maintain files for litigation, subrogation, physical damage, liability and workers compensation claims
  • Evaluating company’s safety rating by regularly updating and monitoring Risk factor spreadsheet
  • Reviewing and persistent follow up on traffic tickets, convictions and accidents
  • Reviewing CVOR, applying and renewing permits, IRP applications
  • Selects, directs and manages vendor relationships including towing companies, body shops, garage and parking/storage yards to get accurate costs as needed in settlement of claims
  • Order police reports, Set-up new claim files, confirmation of loss to insurer & broker
  • Be available on-call for nights and weekends for serious accidents and other duties as necessary
