Senior Combat Designer

Summary

Join our team as a Senior Combat Designer and craft engaging combat mechanics for our story-driven RPGs. You will design player and enemy abilities, weapons, and behaviors, ensuring challenging and varied gameplay. Collaborate with a cross-functional team, iterating on designs based on feedback. Stay current on industry trends and contribute to the progression of player abilities. This role reports to the Lead Gameplay Designer and offers a hybrid/in-office or fully remote option from Boston.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience in the game industry
• Proven success in creating compelling and innovative gameplay mechanics
• Experience in developing shooters, open world, roleplaying and/or action games

Responsibilities

• Analyze, pitch, prototype, develop, and balance core combat and moment-to-moment gameplay
• Design and craft player combat mechanics, weapons, and abilities
• Design and craft enemy behaviors, abilities, and weapons
• Collaborate and produce in a cross-discipline environment while building and refining design over time using internal/external feedback
• Remain current on industry trends including new game genres, new game design methods and techniques, and trending audio-visual excellence

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Unreal Engine 4 and/or Unreal Engine 5
• A deep knowledge of our games, narrative focused and multiplayer games
• Experience with AI design
• 2+ shipped games as a Combat Designer
