Join Bixal as a Senior Content Designer and lead a critical initiative under the SPRUCE IDIQ contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This full-time role, contingent on contract award, focuses on the Lifestage Benefits Crew, providing tailored benefits and support to veterans. You will fulfill content needs for digital tools and applications, ensuring content aligns with VA.gov style guides and accessibility standards. The position requires strong content design skills, experience with Agile development, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Requirements
- Bachelorโs degree in a related field, plus a minimum of four years of relevant experience
- Strong understanding of human-centered design (HCD) strategies, methods, and approaches, and how content design fits in and elevates UX and product design deliverables and solutions
- A portfolio of work that demonstrates a strong understanding of content design deliverables (e.g., content strategies, content models, UX writing)
- Experience working with Agile development teams
- Demonstrated experience working within cross-functional digital teams
- Strong consultation and collaboration skills; comfortable facilitating meetings and workshops with cross-functional project teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in writing, revising, sourcing, and aggregating content
- Experience using voice of the customer data and analytics to support content strategy
- An understanding of plain language guidelines and accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG)
- Experience working with content management systems and/or digital experience platforms, including creating and managing plans for migrating content from legacy to modernized content management solutions
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Responsibilities
- Fulfill the content needs of product teams working on digital tools and applications in the OCTO Benefits Portfolio
- Create content that adapts to and aligns with the VA.gov style guideโs established voice, style, and plain language standards
- Write or edit error messages and alerts
- Collaborate with other members of the centralized content team within their workflow to achieve a high-quality final product for Veterans
- Work collaboratively with designers using UI mockup tools such as Figma
- Create plain-language content that is clear, accurate, consistent, compassionate, equitable, authoritative, accessible, and findable
- Research the topic and related benefit for each request so as to write content that is accurate and well-informed
- Use research findings to iterate on content
- Advocate for content with stakeholders and subject matter experts, including legal and policy experts
- Focus on the Veteran experience with all work produced
- Manage a complex stakeholder environment, with the ability to manage competing interests and find common ground
- Perform other relevant duties as required
