Summary

Join SMX as a Sr. Contracts Specialist and work closely with Business Group Leadership and program leads. You will be responsible for all aspects of the contracts process for the Global Defense Business Group, including negotiating and managing contracts with customers and partners. This role requires collaboration with various departments, such as finance, program management, procurement, and accounting, to support the contract lifecycle. You will manage a portfolio of prime and subcontracts, interpret contracts to align with company objectives, and ensure contracts contain appropriate terms. The position also involves acting as a liaison between the organization and customers, supporting proposal development, and utilizing contract management systems. This is a remote position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • At least 12-15 years of GSA AAS, DoD and federal contracts experience
  • Ability to interpret policies, contracts, and laws and relevance to GSA AAS, DoD, and federal transactions
  • Excellent time management, communication, decision-making, and organization skills
  • Knowledge of all contract types
  • Strong background in contract formation, development, implementation, execution and administration
  • Effective verbal and communication skills in a business environment
  • Ability to participate on cross-functional teams both within the contracts department and with other corporate departments while maintaining a collaborative environment
  • Must have general business skills and Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Manage multiple assignments and engagements concurrently
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, terms, conditions, and policies governing contracts, including FAR, DFAR and other agencies
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must be flexible and a fast learner
  • US citizenship required for work under DoD contracts
  • Clearance Required: None but must be eligible to obtain Secret level clearance

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of prime contracts and subcontracts supporting the Global Defense Business Group with GSA AAS, DoD and Federal Agencies
  • Review and analyze documents to determine contractual obligations and risks; explain these commitments to internal stakeholders
  • Interprets contracts to ensure alignment with company objectives and policies
  • Ensures that contracts contain all appropriate terms and conditions
  • Monitor project end dates and manage any related renewals in coordination with internal stakeholders
  • Regularly work with all functional departments across the company including finance, program management, subcontracts and accounting to support the full life cycle of all award agreements
  • Act as a liaison between organization and customers to support the management of Agreements
  • Support internal policies and procedures in the execution of contract administration duties
  • Willingness to establish, attend and actively participate in meetings with customers and partners
  • Review Request for Information and Solicitations and assist in the development of proposal responses ensuring consistency with corporate policy, pertinent regulations, and customer requirements
  • Assist in the management of contract proposal volumes, supporting any related fact finding and documentation completion to ensure proposals are fully responsive to prospective customer requirements
  • Utilize Deltek Costpoint contract management module and other repositories to ensure that contracts and related correspondence are properly stored and tracked
  • Other projects as assigned by the Contracts Director
