Summary

Join 540 as a Senior Data Engineer and develop a data transformation and workflow solution for the U.S. Army. You will deploy and operate a cloud-based replacement for a legacy financial system and create innovative cloud-first solutions. This role involves managing data pipeline cloud components, security, and governance. You will collaborate with multiple teams, design systems, and communicate data design decisions. The position requires strong architectural thinking and programming skills, along with experience in data pipeline development and cloud services. Remote work is available within the continental US (East Coast hours).

Requirements

  • Be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
  • Have a Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Computer Science or related engineering field
  • Have 6+ years of related experience
  • Be well-versed in Python
  • Have experience building and managing data pipelines
  • Have experience consuming data via APIs
  • Have hands on experience with AWS cloud services
  • Have experience with GitLab
  • Have experience building dashboards using PowerBI and/or similar data analytics tools
  • Have experience working via the terminal / command line
  • Have hands on experience using Jira and Confluence

Responsibilities

  • Develop a data transformation and workflow solution for an impactful part of the U.S. Army
  • Deploy and operate a replacement for a legacy financial system to the cloud
  • Innovate new cloud-first solutions for the U.S. Armyโ€™s data management ecosystem
  • Be responsible for the data pipeline cloud components, security, governance and overall successful delivery of working software
  • Work with multiple teams on problems that require architectural thinking and programming skills to design the system
  • Communicate data design decisions to technical and non-technical audiences at all levels
  • Put in place practices and procedures to deliver a high-quality, tested, and secure product

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have proficiency in Apache Spark
  • Have experience with AWS Glue and/or EMR
  • Have AWS certifications
  • Have CompTIA Security+ certification
  • Have experience maintaining data pipelines with tables containing over a billion rows / records
  • Have experience building, deploying and managing Qlik dashboards
  • Have experience working with DoD systems and data
