Summary

Join Ada's Data Platform team as a Senior Data Engineer and contribute to building scalable data solutions for AI technology. This remote position, based anywhere in Germany (with a preference for Berlin), offers the opportunity to own the entire platform and software development within Ada's data ecosystem. You will architect and maintain ETL/data pipelines, build robust data architecture, design data models, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders. Continuous performance optimization and implementation of data management tools are key responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in data engineering, expertise in cloud-native data platforms (preferably GCP), and excellent communication skills.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, incl. ETL, data modeling, data streaming, and the relevant technology stack, incl. workflow orchestration tool (eg. Airflow) and relevant language(s) (e.g. Python, SQL, Java)
  • Extensive hands-on experience in building and managing end-to-end data solutions in cloud-native data platforms (strong preference for GCP)
  • Experience with application of AI in data engineering tooling and processes
  • Experience with DevOps best practice and tools - containerization, container orchestration, version control, CI/CD, monitoring (eg. Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins)
  • Excellent communication skills and collaborative energy, engaging with Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and other various data user stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Architect and maintain ETL / data pipeline using workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Python, SQL) and data ingestion and delivery services
  • Build scalable, robust and fault-tolerant data architecture and solutions
  • Design data models and warehouse structures optimal for analytics
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to lead requirements engineering and solutions development for data needs
  • Continuous performance and cost optimization of data pipelines, databases and services in modern, cloud-native, data platforms
  • Implement and manage data management tools (e.g. data design, catalog, quality framework)
  • Embody thought leadership for data through evaluation of new data technologies and tools to enhance and operationalize data capabilities
  • Implement and demonstrate monitoring and observability systems and practices for high availability, health and performance of data services and databases
  • Collaborate in a small team of a Data Engineer and a Data Analyst to promote best practice in coding standards, software development approaches, and data frameworks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform) and a background within the digital health space
  • Experience with data regulatory frameworks (eg. GDPR, HIPAA)
