Remote Senior Data Engineer

Requirements

• Technical Expertise: Extensive experience with big data technologies like Spark, Scala, Kafka, and Hadoop. Proficiency in cloud platforms like GCP, AWS, or Azure
• Experience in Data Streaming: Expertise in building real-time data streaming solutions, using tools like Kafka Streams or similar, and processing large datasets with low latency
• CI/CD & Automation: Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines and operationalizing data pipelines, with tools like Airflow, NiFi, and others
• Distributed Systems Knowledge: A deep understanding of distributed systems and their architecture, including experience with scaling systems and ensuring high availability
• Curiosity & Growth Mindset: A passion for staying up-to-date with the latest technology trends and using innovative approaches to solve problems
• Collaboration & Communication: Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, particularly in product and data science

Responsibilities

• Develop Data Strategy: Help define and implement the data strategy, using best practices in data architecture to solve business challenges across multiple functions
• Build & Scale Systems: Design and implement scalable data pipelines, data lakes, and processing systems to handle large-scale customer data, enabling data scientists to run models in batch and real-time
• Support Data Science & Analytics: Collaborate with data science teams to operationalize models, ensuring smooth and efficient data flows to enable advanced analytics and personalized shopping experiences
• Optimize Performance: Continuously improve and scale systems for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Focus on reducing latency and maximizing efficiency across data platforms
• Digital Transformation: Drive innovation by adopting and implementing new digital tools and methods. Play a key role in Flip’s digital transformation by building cutting-edge data systems
