Senior Data Engineer

Summary

Join ghSMART, a leading leadership advisory firm, as a Senior Data Engineer with a focus on expanding into Data Science. You will collaborate with clients and internal teams on research initiatives, leveraging our extensive dataset to derive valuable insights. Key responsibilities include digitizing existing assets, working with a team to meet deadlines, and maintaining our research database. Long-term goals involve acting as the database custodian, supporting research publications, and assisting in AI model training. This role requires a Bachelor's degree, 5+ years of experience, and proficiency in Python, SQL, and Azure Databricks. ghSMART offers a flexible, remote work environment, competitive compensation including a base salary of $125,000-$135,000, performance bonuses, 401(k) plan, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, mathematics, or a related field
• 5+ years of relevant experience in data engineering or related roles
• Proficiency in Python, specifically the pandas library
• Proficiency in SQL, Azure Databricks, ETLs & Excel
• Source control & experience working with or writing CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions or equivalent (i.e GitLab CI)

Responsibilities

• Help with digitization of existing assets by parsing semi-structured data & transforming it
• Work closely with an existing team of engineers and developers to deliver against deadlines
• Collaborate & maintain strong relationships with leadership to understand needs, scope projects, and deliver relevant data insights
• Participate in data privacy training and rigorously adhere to data privacy and security guidelines to ensure the highest standards of care in handling sensitive data
• Act as the custodian and steward of the ghSMART Research Database
• Support ghSMART’s research publications by providing data-driven insights and analysis
• Assist in training AI models on sanitized ghSMART data to enable advanced analysis and insights

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Pulumi or equivalent (e.g. Terraform)
• Experience processing, securing, and managing PII in cloud environments, adhering to compliance standards and best practices
• Familiarity with visualization tools like Power BI
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong project management capabilities
• A proactive, entrepreneurial spirit combined with the discipline to establish and follow a structured data analysis approach
