Join our team as a Data Engineer (Contract-to-Hire) and lead the implementation of a data warehouse for a fast-growing organization. This remote position (United States) is a 4-month contract with the potential to become full-time. You will oversee the entire data warehouse lifecycle, from requirements gathering and data modeling to deployment and post-launch support. Collaboration with various stakeholders is crucial to ensure the data warehouse meets operational, compliance, and strategic needs. You will utilize your expertise in cloud-based data warehousing, ETL processes, and BI tools to deliver robust and secure data solutions. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proven track record of success in data engineering projects.
Requirements
- Good understanding of data warehouse implementation, including designing architecture, managing ETL processes, and integrating with business intelligence platforms
- Strong expertise in cloud-based data warehousing solutions, preferably with experience using Microsoft Azure, SQL databases, Spark
- Familiarity with BI tools such as PowerBI or Tableau, with the ability to design and deploy dashboards
- Knowledgeable in data governance, compliance standards (HIPAA), and best practices in data security
- Hands-on experience with data integration and ETL tools (e.g., SSIS, Airflow, or similar)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to interact effectively with stakeholders
- Proven ability to work in cross functional teams and deliver results within tight timelines
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of a data warehouse/data lake, including gathering requirements, data modeling, architecture design, and data integration
- Execute the full project lifecycle from data exploration, ETL development, to deployment and preparing for post-launch support
- Collaborate with business units to ensure the data warehouse supports automated reporting, business intelligence dashboards, and enhanced decision-making
- Ensure data governance, quality, and security protocols are established, particularly in compliance with industry regulations (e.g., HIPAA)
- Coordinate with technical teams to integrate various systemsβ data into the data warehouse, ensuring seamless data flow between departments
- Work with BI tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau) to enable self-service reporting capabilities for stakeholders
- Provide leadership in managing ETL processes and ensuring data is properly cleansed, standardized, and validated
- Train and support client teams on how to use and maintain the data warehouse infrastructure
