Requirements

  • 6+ years experience working in data engineering, or similar field
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience including product delivery leveraging agile frameworks and delivery models
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Proficient in at least one programming language like Python, Java, Scala, etc
  • Experience with building pipelines in a cloud environment
  • Experience with Airflow, dbt, or other workflow management platforms
  • Experience with S3, Presto, Redshift, Snowflake or other big data systems
  • Experience consolidating disparate datasets in near-real-time
  • Exceptional data modeling and database design skills
  • Expert knowledge of data architectures to enable Data Lakes, Data Warehouses and Data Mart implementations
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary, agile development environment alongside clinicians, product managers, informaticians, quantitative and data scientists
  • Working knowledge of clinical systems and real world data sets
  • Good knowledge & understanding of Agile delivery management & DevOps
  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or other quantitative field
  • Deep understanding of clinical data elements and terminology like ICD, CPT, SNOMED-CT, etc
  • Understanding of information security best practices as they relate to HIPAA
  • Experience with healthcare information models (e.g. HL7, FHIR, OMOP, PCORNET)

Responsibilities

  • Design creative data engineering solutions for business challenges in a highly regulated healthcare industry
  • Rapidly iterate on development with the early stage products to achieve product-market fit
  • Own and automate healthcare data ETL
  • Transform high variability complex data structures ingested from diverse data sources into common data model with high integrity
  • Build high reliability, scalable data pipelines from ingestion to consumption of data by analysts, data and quantitative scientists, informaticist and data visualization analysts

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with GxP and non-GxP data is a plus
