Requirements
- Be based in Abidjan, Dakar, or any other country within 3 hours of GMT
- Hold a Master's or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field, with a focus on advanced machine learning, data analysis, and statistical modeling
- Have at least 5 years of experience in large-scale data analysis, machine learning, and predictive modeling, with hands-on experience in real-world applications
- Possess strong technical skills: Advanced expertise in SQL for querying, manipulating, and analyzing complex datasets
- Be proficient in Python for data analysis, model building, and deployment
- Have a strong foundation in statistics and probability for robust analytical models
- Possess expertise in machine learning libraries and frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch
- Have experience with data preprocessing and feature engineering for structured and unstructured data
- Be familiar with cloud-based platforms (e.g., Google Cloud, AWS, Azure) for deploying data pipelines and ML models
- Be proficient in data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, PowerBI, or libraries like matplotlib and seaborn)
- Understand APIs and integrating machine learning models into production environments
- Have hands-on experience with Git/version control systems and collaborative development workflows
- Possess a business-driven mindset: Ability to translate data insights into practical, impactful business actions
- Be a problem solver: Proven ability to tackle complex challenges with curiosity and creativity
- Have a passion for innovation: Enthusiasm for contributing to Djamoโs growth
- Possess excellent communication skills: Ability to present complex data and analysis results clearly and effectively to diverse audiences
- Have a deep passion for using data science and machine learning to drive positive change, particularly in emerging markets like Africa, with a keen interest in the FinTech sector, data-driven innovation, and research
Responsibilities
- Apply advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to solve key business problems and improve product decisions
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights
- Build high-quality predictive models and AI-driven solutions integrated into Djamoโs products
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data science strategies with business objectives
- Automate data collection and processing while ensuring data quality and integrity
- Create clear and impactful data visualizations to communicate insights and inform strategy
- Explore and propose innovative ways to use AI/ML to enhance Djamoโs offerings and business impact
- Perform any other related tasks, as needed, to support the team in achieving responsible data practices and sustainable growth
