Join ResearchGate's Data Science and Machine Learning team as a Data Scientist in Berlin and help unlock the value of our data assets. Develop Machine Learning models and data-intensive systems to improve ResearchGate's products and enhance the experience for scientists. Collaborate with engineers and product teams to identify opportunities, build prototypes, and deploy production-ready solutions. Contribute to the full ML product lifecycle, from identifying opportunities to maintaining services. Work with tabular and natural language data, and leverage your expertise in Python's data science libraries. Shape the future of ResearchGate's ML technology stack and platform. Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a data science role and Python’s Data Science / Machine Learning library ecosystem: pandas, pytorch or TensorFlow, scikit-learn, xgboost
- Strong analytical thinking and knowledge of the statistical foundations of ML, as well as practical experience developing models for tabular and natural language data; exposure to recommender systems or search applications a bonus
- Experience working within the complete ML operations ecosystem, including writing production-grade code, creating data pipelines, training models, deploying prediction services, and monitoring performance
- Very strong proficiency in SQL is mandatory, proficiency in Big Data technologies (e.g. BigQuery, Hadoop, Flink, PySpark, Dask, etc.) is a nice to have
- Ability to translate business requirements into data-driven solutions
- Excellent communication and prioritization skills
Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and evaluate opportunities for data products and automation via Machine Learning models, including assessing the impact, risks and technical feasibility of potential projects in collaboration with Engineering and Product
- Perform data analysis and develop prototype models to demonstrate the value of potential data products, and communicate opportunities to other teams and departments
- Train ML models using ResearchGate’s tabular and natural language data assets, balancing innovation and pragmatism
- Work with Engineering to bring your solutions to production, including deployment, scaling, monitoring, and maintenance
- Evangelize new Data Science opportunities and capabilities, and contribute to shaping the future directions for evolving our internal ML technology stack and platform
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with a cloud services platform, particularly for ML development and lifecycle; GCP fluency, specifically, is a bonus
