Senior Data Scientist - GenAI

Summary

Join Canva's Conversational Experience (ConX) Group as a Senior Data Scientist and play a key role in shaping how data enhances conversational design and AI adoption. You will uncover business growth opportunities, provide recommendations to influence the product roadmap, and drive a data-centric approach within ConX. Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to leverage data for strategic decision-making, generate insights to improve AI usage and conversational design, and design and run experiments. Define and build goal metrics, forecast targets, and build dashboards to guide business decisions. Support teams with data access and streamline data processes. Work with natural language data and a team of machine learning engineers focused on user intent and conversational flows. This role requires strong technical skills, experience with large datasets, and excellent communication skills. Requirements

• You have a proven track record of using data to influence business decisions and drive growth
• You bring strong technical fundamentals: hypothesis-driven problem solving, SQL, numerical reasoning, metric design and forecasting, insight generation, and data storytelling
• You have experience with experimentation, designing analytic events, and working with data warehouses
• You’ve worked with large datasets, and are comfortable in R or Python
• You have experience in a tech company that builds customer-facing web or mobile products, and understand industry concepts like product funnels and event tracking
• You have excellent soft skills: attention to detail, clear communication (both written and verbal), and the ability to translate complex data into compelling narratives

Preferred Qualifications

• A background in a STEM field (especially mathematics or statistics) is a plus
